Gulp

In a stunningly spontaneous move, I chopped off several inches of my hair on Saturday. Well, I didn't chop it off, the kind lady at the salon did. I brought two pictures with me so she could see what I wanted; what I ended up with is at least two inches shorter than either of the pictures.

Still, I liked how it turned out. At least, I thought I liked how it turned out, until Chris took this picture and I downloaded it and stared at my new coif on film. Now I don't want to leave the house until I get those two inches back.

I'm not fishing for compliments here (Swear!), I'm just sayin'...isn't it weird how we see ourselves differently on film than we do in the mirror? Why does it take seeing a photo of ourselves to notice what we truly look like ("Holy cow, when did I get that fat?!" "Wow, I'm bald." "Oh my goodness, I had no idea I had crow's feet!"), when we actually see ourselves every day? It's strange, is all I'm sayin'.

And not that there's a huge difference, but I definitely like the bathroom mirror 'me' better than the digital camera 'me.' Must be that dimmer on the light switch in there...

You are beautiful and your hair looks great! I have always wondered that as well, why we seem different looking in a mirror vs. picture.

This is one of those backhanded compliments.... but I think you look younger. Which isn't to say I ever thought you looked "older" Give it a few days. I'm sure you'll "grow"into it!

I love it!!!

I think there's a perfect logical answer to the mirror vs. photo phenomenon that plagues us all. Your mental image of yourself is the one that you see in the mirror every day, but that's really a L-to-R "mirror image," (in the mathematical sense). When you see a photo, it looks odd because it's backwards from what you're used to seeing. But to everyone else, the photo IS the real you. Strange...

I like it! But it certainly does look different from the Robyn picture seared into my brain. I can't remember you ever having it this short (unless you count the pixie you sported in kindergarten). I think part of the mirror vs. photo difference is that in the mirror we focus on just our face and in a photo we get the whole picture at once, so to speak. The new do looks more 'put together corporate' than 'hang loose at a rock concert'. I think you might like it if you see a photo of yourself wearing something more 'professional'.

I'm waaay behind, but I love it! Really. I wouldn't lie. I think it's spectacular, even. What did Chris think?

Chris loved it. He digs short hair on girls as much as long hair, which makes him a bit of a male anomaly, from what I hear.

I love it!!!! I totally know what you mean though... It took me seeing pictures of myself from Jayla's birthday to realize that I need to get back into shape... I am like you however when it comes to my hair, but I think its adorable and it fits you very well!!!!
