We're back from a blissful week by the sea. Though it was chilly by Southern standards (highs in the 60s and lower 70s, lows down into the 30s and 40s) we managed to soak up enough sunshine to hopefully help us weather our first "real" winter in a dozen years.
Here are a few snapshots from our time at the aptly named beach house "Southern Comfort" on gorgeous Fripp Island. No Pat Conroy sightings...
Chris and Kostyn enjoying our first chilly evening out on the deck.
At least six laptops were brought on the trip, and at least one was open and in use just about the entire time we were there. I'm sure we were all just checking the weather report...
The little guy quickly warmed up to everyone, but I'm pretty sure Kostyn's new best friend is Papa. And vice versa.
Daddy and K-Man on the beach.
Falling asleep on Uncle Bobby's shoulders.
What's a week in the Lowcountry without a good old-fashioned oyster roast?
Chris' sister Michelle, wondering if she's doing it right...
Oh yeah, Chelle, you got it...
Deer this gorgeous roamed all over the island, often loitering in our backyard. We were instructed not to feed them...
...but we couldn't help ourselves.
Told ya they were buddies...
Playin' with Uncle Tim.
There were many, many late-night card games...
Kostyn got to see his bed bud, Isaac, on Thanksgiving. Here he is sharing his favorite toys. What a good host.
A few of us walked down to the beach after Thanksgiving dinner to catch the sunset. Kostyn's hands were freezing so his cousin Andrea, in the background, gave up her mittens for him. A perfect fit!
Chris' sister Lisa and her husband, Bob. She's as pretty as that sunset, just like her sisters.
Mama and The Bear, all bundled up.
I just love this one.
I could not have felt any fatter, more pregnant or more self-conscious about my too-short hair than the moment I stood next to these beauties for this photo. Next to me are Chris' sisters Lisa and Annette, and Annette's oldest daughter, Andrea.
What a great time we had. There's already talk of where the next reunion will be...

Looks like an amazing time in an amazing place.
P.S. -- You're all bombshells in that last photo. I LIKE the hair!
Looks like a great time (it's sleeting as I write this, not bitter at all). Also, I really like your hair. I'm not just saying that to make you feel better, I really like it. Where did you get all that body and volume? I'd like some of it please.
The hair sucks, gals, but thanks. And Sheil, that is not "body and volume" in the photo ... that's 40-degree winds coming off the ocean, whipping whatever "hairstyle" any of us had into a tangled mess. Those shots aren't much of an indication of what my hair looks like these days. Admittedly, though, it's not much better...
I REALLY like the hair....=)
